Polaroid on Emirates

December 31, 2008 at 10:20 PM (Photography, Travel)

I like Emirates airline, mainly for its entertainment onboard. They provide a whole long list of new movies to watch. Best of all, you can watch it anytime you want, and even pause, rewind or forward it.

Other than that, the cool thing about Emirates is on this one flight I took to Dubai or Athens, there was this Penangite air stewart who talked to us and decided to use his Polaroid camera on us. Ahh how kind of him, considering that Polaroid is now no longer being manufactured!

College keeps coming back to me

December 24, 2008 at 1:23 AM (Academics, College, Future, University)

I’ve graduated in August yet once again, I have college news to tell here again.

Yesterday I got my first pay!

My ONLY pay.

RM30.00 yeah!!! LOL

For that sandcastle photographer job remember?

*+*+*

Went to college the other day to settle something with my head-of-school lecturer and he gave this to me. Like woah! The photo my sister took of me and my classmates at one of the college events is on the college’s newsletter. My sister was on the editorial team, writing articles and taking most of the photos. I’m really proud of her. Her photos are professional looking.

Notice the singing girl under the INTI logo. My sister took that shot and whilst everyone whom she showed thought it was boring, the designer of the newsletter thought it was great and used it twice in the newsletter. So she was sooo happy that her fave shot made it.

College newsletter 2008

I remember when I first went to INTI to sign up. At the time I was kinda nervous, not knowing what to expect of my next 2.5 years in this place. I could only hope to get through college as best as I can. I never expected to be what I’ve become, LOL. Geez… Getting straight As for once in my life, being the top of my class, and most unexpectedly, making it onto our course brochure and newsletter cover. And I’m really happy for it. At least I can always remember college as the point in my life where I had the opportunity to do what I’ve never achieve before, to finally get that straight As results that I was never able to do before because of the Malay/Chinese language (whichever that would give me a B).

So now in two months I will be going to university. And here I am worrying about how I will survive there in a whole new environment. Will I fail? Be average? Stand out? Who will I meet? Will they be people I can form long term friendships with or people whom I will only bother with for the next 1.5 year?

And so here I am back at square one, right  where I started before college.

Wisdom teeth extraction

December 21, 2008 at 11:20 PM (Health)

I contemplated on whether to write about this but I decided to in the end because this event was quite a big thing to me. Links to photos below. Click to see or ignore it :)

Right side on 9th Dec, left on 18th Dec 2008. Right side was pretty easy. In fact I didn’t even realize the lower tooth was extracted until he told me so lol. The thing is both lower teeth were pretty easy while the top was a bit more of a struggle. But definitely the left side was more complicated. While I had only 5 shots of local anesthesia on the right, I had so many on the left that I lost count. Worse, he missed some spots so while loosening the tooth on the bottom I could feel something I wasn’t supposed to be feeling. So more shots for me. The shots for the top hurt much more than the lower but on the 18th it’d hurt so much I teared! Ah well, the great thing is it’s finally done and I can stop worrying!!! :) :) :) My dad is able tell anyone how freaked out and nervous I was for weeks since I first decided to do it.

Reasons for doing it:

1) Teeth decay, which would lead to decay of the other non-wisdom teeth.

2) Ruining 2.5 years worth of orthodontic work. Front teeth were already out of shape and I will not let it continue.

3) Wisdom teeth extraction hurts more after you’re 25. So I might as well get it done now.

And heck after getting it done I was sooo relieved because just look at the photos! They were so disgusting I would hate to have them continue to stay in my mouth.

Total cost: RM790 + RM690 = RM1480 [it's once in a lifetime and I can rest assured of no future tooth aches and decays]

Experience: Not too bad because it’s only 30 mins a side. The dentist’s clinic was comfortable and clean so it wasn’t all too bad despite the description above. Furthermore the only thing you will feel is the shots, which, if you close your eyes, they aren’t too bad (except for that single upper mouth shot that had me tearing). During the surgery you feel no pain, only pressure and the sight of the dentist’s hand vibrating from pulling so hard!

I’d recommend it to anyone really, especially if you’ve had braces before or you have crowded teeth. Or if you can’t reach far enough to clean them properly, like me.

Photo warning (especially for ‘Gory!!!’): Not for the faint hearted!

Gory!!!

 - If you do look at it, you will notice that one tooth had it’s root broke off. My sister was there the whole time
with me, and she said she felt my pain just by looking at the dentist dig into my tooth socket with that tool searching for the missing root! What a brave soul she was!

Decay &  Gummy – The deep grooves and positions of the wisdom teeth make them very difficult to clean. I hesitated to put these up because I’m sure no one wants to see them, and furthermore everyone’s going to think of how disgusting I am, but in the end, I think it’s good for people (if they choose to) to be aware of how decayed and dirty our wisdom teeth can get due to the difficulty in cleaning them.

Stitches - This was after the surgery. Kept in for a week. Not painful at all to sew on and take off.

Montreal Bananas

December 2, 2008 at 10:29 AM (Family, Photography, Random)

Ahhahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :’D

Bought them for mom. They were ripe and pretty. Looking delicious. I got home and gave the grocery bags to mom. Two minutes later I found them on the counter like this.

Bananas

BROKEN!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Truthfully when I first got into the kitchen, there were still 2 bananas attached to the trunk. But then I lifted the trunk and even those two fell off!!!!!!!! Wahahahahaa… Look at how the perfect set of bananas I bought ended up! In a plastic bag all in broken off! What happened?!!!!! hahaha… I haven’t laughed so hard in a long long time. Laughed till I cried, till I couldn’t breathe, till my stomach ached. Haih… even after I stopped, one look at those pathetic bananas lying in the plastic bag sends me into fits of killer laughs again.

Bananas

Mother must be so proud!!! First time she asked me to buy bananas for her and of all things, I bought her Montreal the flimsy! Now she can’t have them to eat for the week but instead have to serve them to the saints. I’m sorry!

Hahahha! Just look at them, flesh still freshly attached to the roots! Hahahaha…!!!

But my laughter ends here because I just remembered that,

as funny as the whole situation is, the worst part was they were actually kinda expensive. Blek!!!

Twilight OSTs

December 2, 2008 at 9:43 AM (Film)

Some of my favourite songs from Twilight the movie:

The prom scene’s Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine

Bella’s Lullaby by Carter Burwell

I’m learning to play this song. Bella’s Lullaby by Carter Burwell v2

Get the alternative too: Bella’s Lullaby by Carter Burwell

Decode by Paramore

Leave Out All The Rest by Linkin Park

Interesting story, before the list of official sound tracks for Twilight was even released, I found a fan made video for Twilight on Youtube. The girl used this song, which I’ve never heard of at the time. I instantly got hooked on this song, partly ’cause I’m a fan of LP and partly ’cause I thought it suited Twilight a lot, but mostly because it was really an addictive song in itself. Anyway later when the names of the OSTs were released, I was kinda surprised that this song was on it. I guess that girl must have a sharp sense on what would suit Twilight. Kinda cool :) Sorry I don’t have the video here, I didn’t favourite it at the time I believe.

Enjoy!
